“Looking for a new job or trying to establish more professional contacts can be daunting for non-native Swedes, so this service really helps with making the initial contact that much easier and accessible.”
Hi Petrine, who did you meet through Yrkesdörren?
I met with Tessa Praun, who is a curator at Magasin III Museum and Foundation for Contemporary Art.
When and in what city did you meet?
We met at the end of March 2016 in Stockholm.
Did you receive any new contacts?
Tessa supplied me with two names to follow up with and initiated contact with both. I was able to meet with both of her contacts and the meetings were positive and fruitful experiences. The contacts were open and willing to try and help me get better connected in the museum world.
Did the contacts lead to a job or an internship?
No, but I think this is a wonderful program even though I haven’t personally gotten a job through it (yet). I have made more contacts in my field than I would have otherwise. It’s great that opening doors and opportunities for others is a priority!
Would you recommend Yrkesdörren to others? If so, why?
Yes, because it is an unintimidating way to professionally meet new people that one otherwise would not be able to come in contact with. Looking for a new job or trying to establish more professional contacts can be daunting for non-native Swedes, so this service really helps with making the initial contact that much easier and accessible.
